Project Meetings and Events
1999:
- February 13 - Evaluation of potential strategies to use in the IntDSS economics
module to account for N, P and lime interactions. Attended by S. Reid (CU), D. Hoag
(Colorado State Univ.), R. Yost (UH), and D. Osmond and J. Smyth (NCSU); Raleigh, NC.
- February 15 - Nitrogen decision support system team; attended by S. Reid (CU); T.
George (IRRI/UH); and D. Israel, P. Luna, D. Osmond, J. Smyth and M. Wagger (NCSU);
Raleigh, NC.
- review current status of N-related work in core experiments in Costa Rica, Mali and
Philippines
- access status of N data collection and interpretation for NDSS.
- develop timelines for completion of N data collection/interpretation needed for current
release of IntDSS
- September 5-11 - Workshop on decision processes for determining diagnostic and
predictive criteria for soil nutrient management; attended by U.S. project team-members
and invited participants from countries throughout tropical Africa, Asia and Latin
America; Philippine Rice Institute, Maligaya, Nueva Ecija, Philippines.
- compare among countries and regions decison making processes which are used to diagnose
soil nutrient problems, recommend solutions and assess their economic feasibility;
- evaluate the current prototype of the integrated decision support system (IntDSS)
software and identify future development needed to improve its performance and usability;
- work with interested parties in providing pertinent data and/or designing and planning
experimentation in support of IntDSS refinement to suit regional needs.
